About Nelson And Nahyla

We are a married entrepreneur couple in the Gastronomy Industry from Venezuela. We are passionate for making alchemy with the ingredients found in the wonderful place we are currently living. Our food is the result of combining the techniques taught by our grandmothers with our own experience and our brand has been created based on the need to offer a product that brings back magical family memories. We would like to offer you our biggest treasure, the legacy of our ancestors and the rich cultural mix of our country. We started our career in 2008 in the cooking sector when we opened a restaurant named “Paella Show” at a mall in Caracas. Paella Show was a fusion between Venezuelan and Spanish Cuisine. Afterwards, in 2010 we moved to the city of Barinas and we acquired two important food franchises “Churro Mania” & “Mr. Pretzels”. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until 2013 when we launched our first great success “La Cocina de Frida” a Mexican-Venezuelan fusion which was very popular and successful in our country Venezuela. Just 3 months later and despite the difficult situation in Venezuela we opened a second store. Both restaurants continue nowadays to be an attractive business.
During the same period and aiming to please a particular client segment, we inaugurated a new concept known as “Los Golfeados de Nahyla”, a mix of Venezuelan and Portuguese cuisine which consists on delicious baked rolls with sugar cane and white cheese (similar to the popular American cinnamon rolls). “Los Golfeados de Nahyla” has been and still is a great success which operates in Cima Shopping Mall and we were evaluating to open three new locations before we decided to leave the country.
Thanks to our success in 2014, we were entrusted with the responsibility to manage the restaurant Hotel Cima Barinas. This was a great experience which allowed us to serve the guests of the hotel and offer a customized service to the Sport Teams visiting the facilities. Among some of the renowned customers, we can find the National Football League Team who chose us to provide food their athletes.
The year 2014 was particularly a successful year and as per the owner’s request, we renovated and restructured the menu and image of an old Sushi Restaurant. We performed changes at every level and we arranged the training of the staff together with the best Sushi Chef in the country. That is how Haiku was reborn.
By the end of 2014, we have innovated Barinas with a new concept named “Zona Verde”, a fresh and modern concept of salads, natural juices and gourmet sandwiches with homemade bread and a wide variety of gluten free options. Zona Verde was developed to satisfy different needs including vegetarians, gluten free, dairy free and people with special requirements.
In 2015 we developed a new concept known as Dorado Grill. This restaurant was the answer to the market passion for the meat and it was the last project we delivered in Venezuela.
In 2016 we arrived in Louisville thanks to a business cooperation that even though did not provide the expected results, it helped us to have a first feeling of the local market preferences. During this year, we launched “NAHYLAS RESTAURANT” and despite not knowing the culture we put all our effort to provide our customers with pure authentic Venezuelan food. After only 9 months we achieved an incredible rating of 5 starts on Facebook & Yelp. This performance deserves our deepest gratitude. All the reviews we received were wonderful and made all our efforts worthwhile.
The best is yet to come... We cannot wait to offer a taste of what with great passion and time we have harvested for the people of Louisville, without overlooking their local taste and furthermore, with a lot of respect to their traditions.
